Who’s Clay?

Clay at the McNay

Hello everyone! As you can tell, I am Clay Chastain and this is my blog. There’s really nothing here that is too interesting unless you know me, and even then you’d probably have to be a pretty big fan (stalker?) to take much interest in it. If you stumbled here and you’re trying to figure out if there’s anything interesting to read, check out the story tag.

So who am I? I’m just a guy trying to figure out where life is going to take me. As of 16 January 2012, I’m 23, stationed in Charleston, SC, and a Nuclear Machinist Mate, Petty Officer Third Class in the Navy. (Yeah, that’s a mouthful.)

Before the Navy, I was a professional graphics designer. I graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX with a BA in communication and a dual minor in anthropology and philosophy. (Very useful stuff!)

My background in the advertising industry started in 2003 where I worked with the award-winning international firm ViaMedia in Midland, TX. From 2006 to 2009, I worked for deviantART Inc., the world’s largest art website, as a part of Artist Relations, and before that, as a member of the Creative department. I am also a co-founder of one of the newest social networking sites, NightScene, a search engine and networking website currently in early beta stages.

I’ve also had the pleasure of acting in a short film that won the Tribeca Film Festival in 2005, Rachel’s Challenge.

As well, I used to host a TV show in the San Antonio area from 2006 to 2010 called Studio 21, which was based on music news and videos. I primarily talked about the indie hip-hop and rap scene. I also DJed on 91.7 FM in San Antonio doing an couple shows weekly. Despite moving on to other fields, I still love to attend shows when I have the chance!

Finally, no Texan would be complete without a love for guns. I compete in shotgun sports (trap and skeet). I go shooting trap regularly with a modified Mossberg 500. I always love to take people out on the range, so hit me up with if you ever want to shoot! It’s a great stress relief, trust me!

Apart from my work, I enjoy reading books, watching action movies from the 1980s, and exploring the world!

Dude, you saved my life. Currently writing my final paper on hitchcocks use of suspense. Love the “how to churn out an essay” post.

Glad I can help out. Who wants to be writing some awful paper when they can just use someone else’s awful paper? That’s the American way!
