Hello everyone! As you can tell, I am Clay Chastain and this is my blog. There’s really nothing here that is too interesting unless you know me, and even then you’d probably have to be a pretty big fan (stalker?) to take much interest in it. If you stumbled here and you’re trying to figure out if there’s anything interesting to read, check out the story tag.
I am a 30 year old veteran that works as a contractor for the Department of Energy in Idaho. During my six years in the Navy, I worked as an Engineering Laboratory Technician for a nuclear-powered fast attack submarine stationed in Hawaii.
I’m happily married to my wife, Carissa. We have two amazing daughters, Molly, a Jack Russell-Shitzu mix, and Jameson, a Yorkie mutt. Molly loves exploring the vast nature of Yellowstone and Jameson loves to boof at anything that moves.
Prior to my military and DoE career, I tried my hand as a graphics designer, and even doing manual labor in the oil field. In 2010, I graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas with a bachelors in communication and a dual minor in anthropology and philosophy. (Very useful stuff!)
Prior to this, I worked in the advertising industry, first starting in 2003. I worked with the award-winning international firm ViaMedia in Texas, which allowed me to have my work featured in several publications. As well, I got the chance to act in a short film in 2005, Rachel’s Challenge, which went on to win a Tribeca Film Festival award. From 2006 to 2009, I worked for deviantART Inc., the world’s largest art website, as a part of Artist Relations, and before that, as a member of the Creative department.
In college, I worked a lot of odd jobs, from being a night manager of a sandwich shop, to having my own spot as a radio DJ on 91.7 KRTU FM.
Apart from my work, I enjoy reading books, watching action movies from the 1980s, and exploring the world!
